Procedures
A
- Clinical Note: Preparation measurements are determined by the extent of the carious lesion and reduction needed for the SSC
B
Clinical Note: Securely place a bite block or mouth prop
C
Bur options: football diamond bur, 169L
D
E
F
G
Bur options: 169L, thin tapered diamond bur
H
- Proximal reduction should be ~1mm
- Remove all interproximal ledges as they can prevent full seating of the crown
I
Clinical Notes:
- Buccal and lingual reduction is limited and can be adjusted later if difficulties arise with fitting the SSC crown over the buccal bulge
J
- If caries remain, remove caries until remaining enamel and dentin cannot be removed without application of significant force using the largest round bur that fits into the carious lesion with rotary instruments (slow speed) or a spoon excavator
- Bur options: round carbide bur (4, 6)
K
L
M
- Use the explorer to check for smoothness
- Use the probe to check for appropriate reduction
- Clinical Note: The final dimensions of the preparation are determined by the extent of the carious lesion and measurements needed for the SSC
